VISIT TO PARLIAMENT HOUSE

Last Tuesday our Grade 5 students, Evie, Casey and Matt, along with the leaders from Euroa PS, Euroa SC and Nagambie PS took part in the first Strathbogie Cluster Young Leaders Day visiting State Parliament.  The day was organised by our local member of Sate Parliament, Steph Ryan, MP, member for Euroa and Nationals Deputy Leader.  Students were given a private tour of the historic 161 year old building, including a meeting in the private Members Library.  They had the opportunity to discuss politics and leadership with Steph and member for Northern Victoria in the Upper House, Luke O'Sullivan as well as meet with Jaclyn Symes, State Member for Northern Victoria.  They sat in the gallery for the opening of parliament for the week and in both the Lower and Upper House during Question Time.  Steph had talked to the students about the 'theatre' of Question Time and the politicians did put on a bit of a show.  The students commented that if they behaved like that in class they would have to sit on the 'naughty chair'.  When Steph rose to ask her question she very kindly acknowledged the students and our schools.  It was a great day and maybe it will become an annual event.  Thank you to Steph, Luke and Jaclyn for the interest taken in our students.
